And tbh, the fact that the Doctor WAS hung up on Rose allowed for Martha's story to be a really cool and empowering story about finding worth in herself instead of looking for validation from an outside source (in this case, the Doctor's approval).

Another person of color saddled with a storyline that involved them being made to feel inferior to a white person. So cool.
