She was originally just a guest character so they made her shallow and hatable in the beginning. But I guess when they decided to keep her on she developed and they developed her into a good person.

The only prominent recurring character I hated was Marissa, she was so 'woe is me' and dramatic all the time. I loved when they replaced her with Taylor, but too bad that was the last season :(

Seth, Ryan, Mr and Mrs Cohen were amazing and lovable characters throughout the entire series... in my opinion at least. Summer was became a lovable character once they decided to keep her on as a main character.
