(Anonymous) 2013-11-21 05:17 am (UTC)(link)Honestly, it's interesting to me that, after railing about the intolerance of everyone who doesn't agree with them personally, nearly every member of the Night Vale fandom I've had contact with is remarkably intolerant of differing opinions or tastes.
Point in case.
OP
(Anonymous) 2013-11-21 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)Having a preference to ship Cecil and Dana makes for a fair decision to dabble in fandom.
Not being totally interested in shipping because it's not for you makes for a fair opinion.
But saying stuff that having a gay (or any non-heterosexual) character/relationship in a storyline because it's promoting "gay propaganda" (and they seriously say that), and say that "gays are (not) in real “love” and everything is a consequence of masturbatory lust which they confuse with the intimacy of a man/woman pairing."... is still an opinion, but it's a pretty damn hurtful and shitty one.
So, normally I tend to keep to my safe spaces around here, but if someone decides to invade that with that evidently homophobic string of nonsense, I reserve the right to at least have the satisfaction of calling out on their bullshit and gleefully reminding myself that one, the canon of the series is inclusive towards queer representation, and two, for once, just bloody once, I get to gloat while some poor person cries about "non heterosexual characters/relationships".
But okay, feel free to write M/F Night Vale fanfiction if you want. Just don't do it out of spite.
