This. Try listening to half of America's politicians - or reading some web forums out there, and not just stormfront. People get so lost in this lj/tumblr echo chamber that they blow up over people for tiny slights and forget completely about the odious ways in which much of the world still thinks.

Because dude seriously, a lot of it seems like they apply THEIR standards and such to everything. If something in the culture seems off to THEM , and it's not something they would like, they're screaming about how it's oppressive. Or they hear that some people use religion to oppress people and suddenly that religion is a religion of evil.

Sometimes I wonder how long it will take them to realize since they're are so many OPPRESSIVE things that it's the individual or a small group who chooses to be oppressive or to twist something to be used to oppress.

I just wonder when they'll develop an understanding of reality. Even when I was at my most black and white legalistic way of thinking I wasn't that obnoxious about it.

I don't necessarily have feelings about Miley one way or the other - she hardly invented child-celebrity-goes-wild and random quotes I hear from her are surprisingly thoughtful.

But if I NEVER SEE THAT UGLY MUPPET DRESS AGAIN IT WON'T BE TOO SOON. I can't help it, I cringe whenever I see pictures of it because it's so fucking ugly. I wish I could be neutrally distasteful of it, but it stirs up passionate fury. Why. why why.
