Does Invader Zim count? Nickelodeon pulled the plug before they could finish anything - or indeed, get around to a lot of things the creators wanted to do. The show just sort of stops.

If we're not just limiting this to shows, I will never stop being angry about the way the Animorphs series ended.

Man, the ending of Animorphs. I started the series in 3rd grade and finished it in high school. I think the let-down messed me up for years. :P Just let Jake and Cassie get back together and I'll be happy. Or not.

I think Animorph broke something in me that still hasn't been fixed.

It's such a grim series for something aimed at children. Thinking back, I'm actually impressed by the complexity of their war, the badassery of the girl characters, things that sometimes I have trouble finding in things aimed at adults.

Cosigned. It continues to baffle me that this was something I was reading at age 6.

Agreed.

I've been wanting to reread those books as an adult, because I really think they'd hold up.

+1 for Animorphs.
starphotographs: I like him. He kind of looks and acts like one of my characters. (I did not know this when I started liking him!) (Victor (...>:|))

Oh god, they really fucked up with Zim! I mean, the creators were going to go all Adventure Time on us and start injecting seriousness and continuity in to a cartoony episodic show. So ahead of its time!

I stopped reading Animorphs around book 40-something because that's when I became obsessed with Harry Potter (and, y'know... you can't read both. you just can't.) and I've been meaning to go back and finish but...maybe I shouldn't?

Some of the later books from are alright, but I'd suggest stopping before getting to around 48. That's when the series hits the beginning of the end, and at that point you just might as well read all of it.

Actually, I didn't really mind how it ended. The way the kids go on with their lives seemed as realistic as possible. It's just the very last chapter - shit, the very last paragraph - that ruins it.

I might've been around 48 when I stopped, I don't really remember. Maybe I was even past that. Um, I remember them going to Atlantis...I think it was the killer whale one?

I know I really loved the Anadalite & Hork Bajir Chronicles, and Visser, but I never made it through the Ellimist Chronicles.

Oh man that sucks. My friend did summarize the ending for me but I forgot what he told me exactly. Eh maybe I'll read the ebooks when I don't have anything else going on.
