You do seem really upset with me though. I'm not sure why. Again, the reason I overreacted to your first comment was I thought you were comparing original art to fan "art" such as fic. Obviously I misunderstood. I'm not dead against fanart commissioning, I was just surprised when I thought you didn't see a difference between that and original art.
I honestly haven't given it that much thought. I've bought fanart before. I guess as long as they recognize it's fanart, and are willing to stop immediately if the original artist asks them to, I don't have a problem with it.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-20 12:37 am (UTC)(link)yes. of course.
regardless, you admit to purchasing fanart, and say that - caveat notwithstanding - you have no problem with it. Then how, exactly, does fanfic differ from fanart, really? one assumes that the writer understands that they do not own the original property, and that they have not been asked by the franchise holder to stop writing, or even stop charging for their work. so why is it acceptable for an artist to charge, but not a writer? they are both artisans using their skills on behalf of someone willing to pay for that benefit.

I didn't jump to a conclusion for what you said. I MISREAD it. I made a mistake. I apologized for it. Sorry for being human? You really need to let it go.
And I'm not hurt because you couldn't "read my mind", I'm annoyed because when I said I meant to edit it and that I'd reconsidered my stance, it went right over your head and you continued acting like I said it maliciously and still meant it.
You are just really determined to be righteously indignant, though, aren't you?
Then how, exactly, does fanfic differ from fanart, really?
Holy shit, anon, I'm sorry for being so aggravated right now but THAT'S NOT WHAT I SAID. At ALL. Did you read anything I just wrote?? My entire point was that fanfic and fanart differ from ORIGINAL art. And, yes, I get that that wasn't what you said in the first place. Again - I misread it.
Can we get over this now?
+1
