To be fair, Morrowind is effectively unplayable as a game. It's got a lot of raw charm and honestly doesn't look THAT dated for a 12-year-old game but actually playing it is teeth-grinding.

Yeah, I didn't get very far in Morrowind because, in spite of the cool plotlines, characters and setting, I couldn't get past the shitty combat system. Even cheating like mad and abusing godmode could only ease the frustration so much.

The first time I played Morrowind I hated it because it seemed so clunky and impossible so I didn't play it for a long time.

Then I went back to it after getting a game guide and the GOTY edition, and after leveling up the combat seemed easier and not so ridiculous. There is a larger array of weapons, spells, than there is in the later games.

And if there's something you didn't like about Morrowind, someone's made a mod for it, whether it be animation, combat, immersion, graphics.
