First it had to get all metaphysical and weird, and then they didn't even let it be ambiguous, with that fucking TEXT caption all "Dr. Beckett never returned home." still pressed about that to this day.

Seriously, why not just say "And Sam Beckett was a giant failure, and now you all can be sad FOREVER." But to me, the really inexcusable thing about that episode was the lack of interaction between Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell.
