Same. It would have been an amazing story arc, and after S2, I think it might have turned out better. It was a serious knock, and a very /personal/ knock, and they just fixed it like that.

idk how you are about S2 spoilers so I'll be vague, but there's a few similar instances of lost opportunity there (and on the flipside, even more magical corrections). Sigh.
