Re: Disappointing season or series finales.

Yeah, that was horrible. When I first watched it as a teen I ate it up, but re-watching it ten years later made me go WTF WHY DID I LIKE THIS. I hate that she gave up her job for Ross when he never really liked her having a job, but he NEVER grew up and thought about her feelings (or anyone else's) for longer than an episode. They both kept regressing around each other and tried and failed so many times, that I realized the only reason they got together was to please most fans. Monica and Chandler got some bad storylines here and there but I was satisfied with their ending; I always bought them as a couple. With R/R it was another sudden finale reunion after a season of stalling. At least it's easy to fanwank another (permanent) breakup for them post series.

I agree, the series finale should've been focused on the group as a whole. And wrt what you said in another comment, Joey/Rachel grew a lot on me and I would've liked for them to have had more of a chance. I would've accepted them not ending up together, but it was awful how right after their breakup, their interaction was cut way down and Joey was made even stupider than all previous seasons combined. When Ross was yelling at Rachel for not giving him his goodbye and how that hurt because she was his 'best friend' I was like no, she's not, she's your ex-wife because you had to stay married to her and kept it a secret.

Ia with every word of your comment. Ross/Rachel was ridiculously unhealthy and them saying "We won't be stupid any more" just didn't cut it as growth to me. I had trouble buying Chandler/Monica at first, but by the end, I really felt like they loved and respected each other and could make it past the end credits.
