And Ollie himself is just irritating no matter what medium he's in.

Amen.

At least he's not Hal

Hal isn't very interesting outside of the comics, and even in the comics he was most interesting when he was evil or dead.

Geoff Johns has really given the character new life, however. Similar to how Barry Allen came back from the dead with an actual personality.

At least he's not Laurel

Disagree. I love Ollie.

That's great.

Ollie's fun!

That is technically true, but he's fun the way guys like Booster Gold are fun.

Personality-wise he just rubs me the wrong way. And I find him to be something of a hypocrite (pre-new 52 comics-wise, anyway. New 52 Ollie is just an attention-seeking bozo.)

His moralizing usually reminds me of this.

"but he's fun the way guys like Booster Gold are fun"

Wait, what's that supposed to mean?? Hdu

I mean they're basically tremendously flawed characters whose flaws make for good comedy.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-21 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
True. Still, Booster>>>>>>Ollie

Oh totally, I fucking love Booster.

I kinda liked pre-marriage Ollie, with his dysfunctional ersatz family including Speedy (who was smart enough to upstage Bats on her own turf), perpetual awkwardness with his adult son, and trying to do right by Roy largely by throwing money at him from a distance via shell companies. It gave him just enough credibility to say what we've all been thinking about the Batfamily.

But of course it's not the comic industry if the not-quite-a-listers don't get shuffled to new teams and deconstructed to be "edgy" every two years.

Not sure what is so awful about Arrow, i'm really enjoying it this season. And Ollie.

Me too :)

Same here. Favorite show this season.

Ollie on Smallville was definitely more of a happier jokester. He seemed less... tortured, even when he was being tortured.

I like them both, for different reasons. Hotness may or may not come into play.

I like Arrow as a show. :/

i kind of want to watch the show because it's turning into a spartacus cast reunion, but everything else about it makes me go blaaaargh
