You found the Food & Liquor album from Lupe Fiasco boring? The Cool album? Really? How were they boring?

Well, the first Lupe Fiasco song I listened to was "The Cool," and I actually liked that one quite a bit. I think the second was "Hip-Hop Saved My Life," which wasn't really my thing. Then I listened to "Paris, Tokyo," which bored me. Then that one about owning a giant robot, which bored me. Then "Dumb it Down," which I guess was kind of clever, but still wasn't really my thing. Then I gave up and started listening to something else. In retrospect, maybe I should have tried listening to the full Cool album in order.

No, no, you have to hear the full album! Intruder Alert, Streets on Fire, Little Weapons, The Die, those are all must-listens on that album.

Tyler the Creator can be very interesting, but I don't love everything he puts out. Childish Gambino is a good place to start. Mc Lyte, if you're looking for a good start to your female rappers. She was the first one to put out a full solo album. There's really just so much out there.

DA - seconding this. The Cool is a lot better than just the songs ayrt listed (I agree Paris, Tokyo is pretty damn boring). I also really like Go Gadget Flow. And Words I Never Said from Lasers, lol.

Oh, yeah, Go Gadget Flow is a great track. Paris, Tokyo I actually like better drunk? I know that's weird? Words I Never Said is one I didn't think of, probably because I was thinking of The Cool. It is a good track.

I think Kick, Push is my all time favorite Lupe Fiasco track though, if I had to choose. It's just beautifully mellow, sharing this piece of his childhood that feels so genuine.

Ah, seconding Childish Gambino. I had the same problem as OP but then I discovered him and since rap isn't really my genre anyway, I figured that was enough diversity for me.

I'm just really fond of a lot of styles of music. Except calypso. Fucking hate calypso. Not everything is for everyone though. A lot of people hate my country music selections.
