That's my impression, too--that what people are looking for is fan-friendly movies with POC, i.e., blockbuster Hollywood genre movies. And Hollywood has convinced itself that movies with predominantly non-white casts can't make money, even when they do.

So if people showed interest and actually spend money and time talking about movies with the elements they DO want to see, even if they are not Hollywood, wouldn't that give Hollywood the idea that they can branch out from their formula?

It's a process that takes time... and MONEY, but you can't really sit there wishing really hard for things to change and not look silly when you have an option to influence trends besides complaining on the internet.

What do you think we've been trying to do? Hollywood sticks to its formula. The "WELL JUST TELL THEM THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT/BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE" argument doesn't work.
