I work in a library. Our library director is a middle-aged doofus who thinks he's on top of technology - thus, he thinks print books will be obsolete very soon. Because of this attitude of his, the library system has been weeding (discarding) many, many books. I find it very sad and I soothe my soul by reading vintage pop-culture magazines.

My library sent out an email survey recently and I was very careful to rate having physical books (and local history and genealogical records etc)as important

Also all the adult bridging classes they did and multilanguage books and...the whole thing was pretty important

Only reason I don't use the library much anymore is I can finally buy the books I want :/
