I just reread the book actually, and I think it holds up well (tbh, it's one of my favorite books). I agree with others who say that it's not so much misogynist as a little gender-deterministic, but one of the best soldiers that "makes it" is a girl, and she's acknowledged to be an excellent leader. Yes, she's only one out of a group, but overall the treatment of girls is pretty decent imo.
And there's nothing really homophobic in the book itself, I don't think. Nobody's openly gay, but then, they're all 10 years old and busy playing war games so there's no sex at all.
