what is this called??

[personal profile] shinyhappypanic 2013-11-22 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
the type of round room that castles have? I have to design a scene of Hamlet for my English class and I was inspired by this image. I'm trying to say that the scene takes place in the room where a staircase like this would end:

so how would I describe the room? and are these just called circle staircases? sorry for my fail castle knowledge.

http://www.castle.lv/castles4/hroniki/glossary.html I found this list of terms, if you ctrl+f "stair" you'll find some different terms.

If you mean the stairs themselves, then spiral, turnpike or corkscrew. The room might be the forebuilding?

A level between floors is usually called a landing nowadays but I don't know if that's what you mean.
