I was frightened of Gremlins. I watched it one dark night when I was 3 and 4 (TBS used to air it constantly and my parents didn't seem to think it was an issue that I had a TV in my room)

Flashforward when I'm 18 and I watch it college and couldn't believe I was scared of that movie.

I'm sorry for responding so tardily! I went to bed before you commented.

I saw Gremlins for the first time around the same time I saw Edward Scissorhands give or take a few years. I had the same reaction; it was really frightening to me. Now I find it wonderfully silly.

Yeah, I had no idea why I found it so terrifying. I'm sure I could come up with lots of movies that had similar reactions. Or books. I read a book in high school and reread it after college and it was completely different.
