I kind of feel like you're right. At least in terms of the canon - I mean, the late Victorian / Edwardian boarding schools that Hogwarts is explicitly modeled on weren't exactly havens for the outcasts and the different.

Then again, as you say, who cares? If people want to think of it as a welcoming, accepting place for everyone, good for them. Good for you to think the other thing too. It's all good.

I agree.

She seems to pull it off naturally. (thought, I don't find much awkward about Hilary Duff tbh) She knows how not to try to hard.

(OT, I also noticed form Demi's music she can pull off more adult things. The other day I was listening to one of her songs on her new album and was like "wtf did she just make a reference to flipping the bird? SHE DID.")

(TBH I hope the future Disney stars can take notes from Selena on how to grow up gracefully. "Try hards" are really uncomfortable to watch)

The thing is, I'm not sure that having emotions and occasionally acknowledging that you have them is the same thing as being "emo".

He still has his non-emo moments, like when he found out Gregson's marriage was on the rocks and he told him, "If you need to talk to someone... I'll make sure Watson is available to you."

I can see where you're coming from - for all his bluster, this is a much more touchy-feely Holmes. I chalk it up to just being the nature of this interpretation: this is a Holmes very damaged by addiction and betrayal who is willing to open up to Watson in a more direct way than we usually see in a Sherlock Holmes adaptation (is it because she's a woman?) and - through her - we can see his more vulnerable core.

One thing I really like about Elementary is that the characters talk to each other about how they feel. How they handle those feelings and the choices they make because of them aren't always ideal, but that's life. At least they communicate.

I've been going through something similar lately. My anxiety and depression have gone wild and have been making it hard to enjoy fandom, whereas before it seemed it was the only place that was a sort of escape from my depression and anxiety. I don't like it and can't figure out how to get back to the fun escapist fandom was before. :(
