I think I watched part of this. Is this the show about manga editors and the men who love them?

I believe so. I read some of the manga and saw some of the anime a few years ago. It's one of the series I meant to finish, but never did.

It's called "Junjo Romantica."

It says Sekai ichi hatsukoi on the secret, though...

Oops. That's the sequel to JR anyways.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Not a sequel, but it has basically the same plot.

Don't worry, this manga has no plot progression, the story is always the same. Don't waste your time with it.

Aww, that sucks. Is the anime any better?

(Anonymous) 2013-11-23 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's the same shit but with the porn censored.

It can't be. I can barely remember it. Then again, that might be the vodka that flowed that night.

Sekaiichi Hatsukoi is WIP, I think? And I dunno, maybe it's cause I marathon-read it as opposed to reading it in installments, but I think it has the mangaka's usual speed of plot progression. Maybe you can argue that the main ship is kind of going in circle lately, but I like the side pairings, and their plot progress quite nicely, IMO.

fwiw, I like it.

Thanks. I might watch the anime in the future and if I like it, I'll give the manga a shot. I think my library has it, haha.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
The problem is that the mangaka's usual speed of plot progression is zero. Look at Junjou Romantica, those guys have been dating for years yet they still act like the day they met. It's ridiculous. That's not how a couple that have been together for a long time acts.

Maybe for you, personally? I dunno, I'm one of those people who stayed with Haru wo Daiteita for *years* before holding up my hands and said 'this shit is going nowhere!' so personally for me, compared to Haru, Sekaiichi is practically fast-paced.

Saying they are the most interesting is really not saying much.

I think I agree with you somewhat. It helps that the bookstore dude is not a douchebag like the chief editor dude in the main ship, of course.

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, that's definitely a part of why they're my favorites. It doesn't hurt that bookstore guy (I always forget his name, haha) kinda reminds me of Tamaki Suoh.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone I know who watches the show seems to agree. Is there enough of a fandom for it that we would be in different circles?

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure if I could properly call myself in the fandom for this, since I haven't really had the chance to talk to any other fans (aside from my little sister, haha) but I've been to the tumblr tag a few times and looked through a few blogs there and everyone everyone mostly seemed interested in the main pair. Granted, Tumblr probably isn't the best place to look, but I'm not really sure where else to go. Do people still use Livejournal for fandom stuff?

I wouldn't say I'm part of it, but I follow the translator on Tumblr, that's how I was convinced to read it, actually. There are forums, like aarinfantasy, for BL everything. Maybe check those out?

Well, I think the fact that this ship's relationship is in a way resolved kind of has a part in that. It's understandable that fans would pay more attention to the ship's that's still unresolved, and are not yet a couple.

This ship is my favorite, and I'd always love a chapter or two of them, but I'm also super curious about how the main ship's gonna end up.

Also, I might be the only one, but I really couldn't care less about the third ship, with the many aka and his editor and his childhood best friend. Now that ship, I'd skip on their chapters.

Isn't that the one that has graphic rape in the novel that's never mentioned again? As it is, they swing between boring and creepy for me in the anime.

Yukina/Kisa is also one of the few ships in Nakamura's entire catalog that isn't rape disguised as romance. You have good taste, OP, if people who enjoy Nakamura's stuff can be said to have any taste at all (I watch/read it too and I'm not so sure about that...but I'm too far invested to just give it up now).

So I've watched all these shitty copycat series like Junjo Romantica and Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi and I still can't actually remember any of the characters or plots. It's all just pushy/pushover semes/ukes. Insert Tab A into Slot B indeed.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-24 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Their relationship is certainly healthier than the other two couples in the show.
