So, I guess us wimmens are getting girl cooties all over your superhero COMIC BOOKS?

Poor baby, whatever will you do.

I say this as someone who doesn't ship any of these people except in the most general way, and who loves the MCU beyond all reason. Suck it up, sunshine. We're not Doing Fandom Wrong just because we have girl parts and enjoy a little romance.

It's not impossible OP's a woman doing the "I'm just better than other dumb girls" thing. Matter of fact I'd put money on it.

...that's even grosser.

Can't we all just get along? Why the hell do we have to marginalize people in our fandoms when our fandoms marginalize us from the mainstream enough as it is?

This is a lot more likely to me.

Some women who got into comics pre-MCU are just really macho and possessive over their titles, and they do NOT like the MCU people coming in and shippin' everything.

I always tend to like the Vertigo titles or indies, so I mostly avoided these girls.

I got that vibe too (and ugh, is it gross). It could go either way, to be sure. But it does have a feel of "I'm not an annoying woman like you, I'm one of the special ones who's part of the Man's World of Comics because I'm Doing It Right and you're encroaching on my status so go away"

Urgh, that's such a gross view point. It drives me nuts, this idea that women who enjoy male things the male way are inherently superior to women who like stereotypically girly/woman things like romance and sparkles.

ITA. It's women feeding right into misogyny at its bluntest.

URGH
GROSS

You all sound stupid.

YOUR MOM

"I say this as someone who doesn't ship any of these people except in the most general way, and who loves the MCU beyond all reason."

Well...doesn't the secret not apply to you, then? I mean, there's a difference between "I'm a woman and I like comics" and "I literally am only reading these to find more ship fuel for my fanfics and could not care less about the stories within".

(Anonymous) 2013-11-25 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Just because the secret might not apply to them doesn't mean they can't have an opinion. And if some people was to treat the long and illustrious history and archive of comics are pure ship fuel, that's their prerogative. THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT.
