actual rule suggestion

Keep it 100% fictional only, based on what you've seen around FS. Don't be creepy and go search up someone's real life location or appearance or name pr issues just to make your fic more 'authentic'. We are not celebrities and our blogs are not paid public interviews. If you're doing 'research' through people's personal journals for this, you're doing it wrong.

Maybe include a "tell us about yourself" post where people can opt in to give details if they want but otherwise it should be made up.

You'd be surprised. It doesn't have to be malicious either. Someone is writing a fic about you, glances at your journal, sees you talking about something and decides to include it in the fic and it gets creepy.

"Oh I see on this user's journal that they are Filipino. Let's have them speak Tagalog. Authenticity!"

"User has been depressed lately, it says so on their posts. Let's write a H/C romance where someone lifts them out of their depression."

I've had people search up pics of me to use for description purposes so .. it can happen and is definitely pretty creepy

First rule of the Fandom Secrets Kinkmeme: KEEP IT CRACKY!

If a user makes a serious, personal post on their journal or F!S (like, asking f!s for advice on a serious matter), don't put that in a prompt or a fic. Keep the meme impersonal, for the most part.

Just for clarification, say I wanna prompt a Chard/Noodles fic. Would that be considered bringing real life into things, since they are a couple irl?

I'm not running the kink meme, but I'd say that'd be okay just because they want people to write fic about them. I guess if they didn't they could say "No prompts about us together."

I'd think that would be ok as long as the relationship dynamics are made up and the person isn't going through their DWs looking for where they live or tend to go on dates or something like that. As long as its not "researched" like anon put it
