I don't think it's that the fandom doesn't like het (because a bunch of the hugely popular pairings like Diego/Mia or Gumshoe/Maggey are het, and then there's others)... but it's that there IS a very vocal anti-yaoi presence in the fanbase who is all "OMG YAOI IS NEVER CANON HET IS SUPERIOR" and I think the OP doesn't want to seem like she's part of that.

Oh damn, that's nuts. I used to be in the fandom when the first game came out, but I've withered away from it... it just seems so huge now. Why can't we just have huge sexy orgies and be done with it? Then everyone is happy! Mmm, crack.

Seriously? o_0 I thought all the "OMG YAOI IS NEVER CANON HET IS SUPERIOR" is overshadowed by the rabid yaoi shippers.

In terms of what's _produced_? Yeah, it is. There's a lot more P/E than anything else. But for the most part, it's a generally friendly and accepting fandom, and the "rabid yaoi shippers" don't tend to have the kneejerk reaction of "OMG HET IS EEEEEVIL." I personally really don't like the Phoenix/Maya and Edgeworth/Franziska pairings, but that's more due to the characters themselves (I'm hardly a "rabid yaoi shipper" by any sense of the word XD) and I'm pretty good friends with people who like those couples.

There's a quite small but unfortunately very vocal segment of the fandom that behaves like I mentioned above with the YAOI IS NOT CANON STOP MAKING THEM GAY. Not too fond of those types.
