There are going to be people who will not be offended by the word "faggot." And that's fine.
There are also going to be people who WILL be offended by the word "faggot." And that's also fine.
It's just COMMON COURTESY not to use it around those people once you know it offends them. Continuing to use it whilst knowing full well it will offend them, or using it with the full intention of offending them, makes you a douchebag dickwad.

That's exactly how I explain it when people complain about me using "faggot" so casually. I only use it with my friends and we throw it around like it's nobody's business, but I wouldn't introduce myself to a random stranger and be like "Nice to meet you, faggot. 8B"
