Disney Fans

Is it just me, or are they always the female equivalent of the manchild.

With choice feminism to boot. No being a princess who sits around all day and gets saved by a man is not an incredible character because she has ~;emotional stength;~

What? I don't even understand what you are whining about. People liking Disney?

Nah, not the impression I've gotten, but then again I haven't gone all that far down the rabbit hole to know.

If you don't have specific examples for us to examine and critique? It's just you.

I'm going to celebrate the day you make a worthy post with an example instead of your short, incoherent statements.

No need to rush right out to the store for confetti and noisemakers; I think we'll be here awhile.

Wow. I think this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. Bravo, trollp.

The Lone Power has a weird sense of humor sometimes.

Wassup, DoubleCreature. I'm still not a Homestuck as you predicted on Saturday.

Yeah. Incredible is someone who sits around all day making troll comments to the same fandom community. You're so strong, anon. I'm awed.

What does choice feminism have to do with this? I guess I could see it but that seems like a weird angle to come at this from.

Goddammit why are so many of the trolls here so BORING.

I'm going to guess that you're bitching and temper-tantruming about the Disney secret.

If that's the case I laugh at you in mockery. Because that secret is talking about how Cinderella is strong because she endured horrible abuse and being made into a slave by her own family. She didn't just sit around and wait.

Have you ever met someone who lives in an abusive situation. I've known and met people who did and let me tell you it's soul crushing and draining just to hear about, much less deal with. To get hope up only to have it smashed down again. and again and again.

It takes an incredible character to put up with that shit. The focus wasn't about the Prince, he was just means of escape that was realistic for a woman of that time period. It was about Cinderella and her own emotional growth and being able to get out of the situation not crushed emotionally or dead.

You sound like a passive aggressive over grown teenager. "Oh no someone has an opinion I don't like....I must insult and belittle them". Please.

I never interpreted it like that. That actually makes sense.

This isn't really the case?

Like it's awful when someone has to put up with situations of that nature, but that fact you haven't killed yourself doesn't suddenly make you an incredible person, you're just a person who's undergone an awful situation and turning you into a heroic figure could be seen as patronising.

[personal profile] jaybie_jarrett 2013-11-28 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not saying it makes you heroic figure, just that it takes a certain kind of strength.

Also I wasn't referring to suicide but rather death because of being killed by the abuser, or being killed running away. That happens in abuse situations sometimes.

It also takes a GREAT amount of strength to not come out bitter or angry and resentful because of your situation.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-28 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
It's heroic (in a quiet, everyday way) to undergo it and still remain alive and hopeful and not-bitter and not-angry, and to retain kindness for animals, and the ability to sing to ease your troubles, because THAT'S really hard.

Heroism isn't about drama and action. It's about having heroic qualities - personal traits that heroes should have.
