I don't think there was anything all that terrible about the Marauders' behavior towards Snape that reflected all that poorly on their personalities. Was it a bad thing to do? Oh yes. But if I recalled the completely shitty and stupid things that I (and plenty of people I know who are perfectly good people now) did when we were 15? Yeah, sorry, that behavior is not indicative of moral degeneracy.

Plus, bullying the equivalent of an openly racist neo-Nazi during a very politically strained and divided time in in-universe history, while certainly not justified or admirable at all, is really neither a monstrous nor surprising thing for immature 15-year-old boys to do.

Pretty sure that Sirius conspired to have Snape accidentally walk in on Remus mid-werewolf. This would not only have resulted in Snape being murdered or horribly maimed, but it would've exposed Remus's secret and probably gotten him kicked out of school. I think that reflects pretty poorly on Sirius's personality.
