I'm trying to see where the problem is, and I guess it coud be that you've said thingd online that you wouldn't want connected to your name, but meeting people offline would mean revealing your name to someone who might remember the things you've said?

Does your employer really say you can never meet in person with someone you first met online? These days, online and offline life blurr a great deal. Offline friendships go online and online friendships go offline. People find dates online. People keep up with friends and family online. Everyone I'm friends with on Facebook is someone I met first offline.
