24. I hadn't wanted to see them either, but got made to a year ago. I wish I hadn't. All of them bored me to death, episodes 1-3 weren't as bad as 4-6 though. My friend could not believe me when I said that.

He also told me I had no right being in my Universitys Science Fiction and Fantasy society because I had not seen/didn't like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. (I am now President of said society so screw him.) There's more to SF&F than them, they aren't that great....

Um, not sure I think "pretentious" is the right word for it (or for most things people use it about, honestly, ugh, it seems like I mostly see people use it to mean "DIFFICULT FOR ME TO UNDERSTAND, and therefore BAD!!"), but yeah, art = WIN, writing = whut

I guess you would describe it a different way but it feels pretentious (aka it's trying too hard) to me, so I think that's the right word. ;P The art is great but the story doesn't flow.

To be fair, Haruhi/Tamaki is hardly the most canon pairing that ever canonned. As long as Haruhi and Tamaki never are a couple in canon and all implications of such a thing happening are largely one-sided - and no, I don't see the end of the anime as unshakable evidence that she's going to ditch her previous disinterest in anything involving romance and fall in love with him - I'm not sure I see the problem in "disregarding" Tamaki when pairing her up with Kyuouya any more than it would be a problem to "disregard" Sakura when pairing Sasuke up with Naruto.

Out of all the pairings in Ouran? Tamaki/Haruhi is the one that has the most arrows pointed towards it to be canon. Especially if you've read the manga. And especially if you've read up to Chapter 55 of the manga.

The problem with "disregarding" Tamaki is that his feelings are not being put into regard when pairing her and Kyouya up, especially since most of basically everything Kyouya does is for Tamaki. It seems that some fans don't remember that. Kyouya (and the rest of the club, sans Haruhi) know how much Tamaki is in love with Haruhi. From what I've seen of Kyouya, he's actually trying to get the two to hook up, instead of come and act as a wedge between them.

I don't know. I see the manga as a better source for canon material, since there's only so much you can go by in the anime.

Anyway. The only person Kyouya even seems to have the slightest bit of romantic interest in is Tamaki. It's obvious that he has a crush on his best friend.

24 I find it interesting how it's completely acceptable in modern America to dislike Star Wars, but if you admit to having seen none of it, you're somehow the odd one out. My sister can hate it with a seething passion, but if you tell her you haven't seen even one movie, she'll look at you like you just grew three heads.

Really, if you're not into campy space operas, it's probably really not for you. But it's been so infiltrated into American pop culture that if you don't watch it, you really will miss things.
