I know Eren is not tan... all the characters are the same skin-tone but for some reason I keep seeing him as a little darker than every one else in my memory.

I keep thinking of Eren, Hanji, Sasha, Bertholdt, and Connie as having tanner skin even though the anime/manga doesn't show it.

It's very very slight but there are differences in the animated skin tones. Ymir and Bertholdt are darkest. Eren, Sasha and Connie are next. Annie, Mikasa and Reiner are very pale. It doesn't surprise me that people would subconsciously pick up on that and their memories would magnify the differences.

And in the anime Petra is redhead and Rico has whiteish hair when both are supposed to be blonde. The anime colors aren't canon.
