People just hate it on it because they look for an excuse to diss Twilight. If this was Harry Potter they'd be all over it.

There really isn't a good analog in HP as far as I know, except in some fanfics which are indeed squicky for this reason.

People complain about every single romantic pairing in Harry Potter, I don't know what you're talking about.

maybe, but if your standard for moral behavior is 'what hp fandom would be ok with' then i worry for you

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
THIS.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, WTF. No. If an HP baby was suddenly soulmates with a full-grown adult NO ONE WOULD HAVE BEEN OKAY WITH THAT. Hell every couple in HP (even solid ones like Arthur/Molly) have haters. I don't know what magical (heh) place you're looking when you think HP would have no hate for something like that but it's bull.

You have obviously never come into contact with the pure TNT covered in water balloons full of gasoline loaded onto blocks of gunpowder-dusted white phosphorus that is Harry Potter fandom.

... that is an awesome description. An awesome, 100 % accurate description.

No see, if (closest equivalent I could think of) Ron fell in love with Teddy upon seeing him, I think Harry Potter fans would be smart enough to take great issue, unlike insane pedophile-approving Twilight fans.

Oh I'm sure there's people who are fans in both, but the number would be smaller.

Wait, we need an excuse to dis Twilight?

FALSE. When Rowling gave us her "all was well", Noah's Ark'd ending with everyone shiny and happy, I was not one bit impressed.

IF Rowling had written that AND ended it at Harry looking at the ruins and going "I've had enough for one lifetime" THEN I'd be all over it, because that way, it'd be a lot less "This is all happy and wonderful" and more "this is just what happened, reader, you can gag on it or love it; I'm not telling you which to do, I'm just the messenger".

Personally, I hate on it because it's creepy as fuck, and I question the OP's ability to think critically.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-03 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Wrong. It's creepy no matter the fandom.
