Bashing fic
(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 01:16 am (UTC)(link)Re: Bashing fic
I really only object when the fic is written with the intent of seriously trying to make other people believe that hating such-and-such, usually by twisting circumstances around so that they are not at all what actually happened in canon, or other misleading stuff like shoddy characterization. (AUs are a different story, of course - I'm talking about the ones where the author really seems to think that so-and-so canonically good but hot-tempered character is an abusive spouse or something and doesn't treat it as a "what if".)

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 02:05 am (UTC)(link)I am of the opinion you can write a fic that focuses on the things you want to see more without the need to gloat how superior you are to the rest of the fandom. Passive-agressive comments on how sad is that people enjoy X while obviously Y is superior also counts.
I once read a fic that was intelligent, well thought, with an interesting premise, it made me reconsider canon with another fresh point of view. The bashing of the part of the fandom I'm part of on the author's notes turned me off and prevented me from letting review/rec it (I rec fics on my tumblr) and now I pretend it doesn't exist. A shame though, it was a good fic, but it did piss me off.
