Regarding the pitcher/catcher debate
(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 01:28 am (UTC)(link)Are there any fics out there set in the past that takes these attitudes into account?

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 03:32 am (UTC)(link)I like slash scenes with more non-penetrative sex and different/creative ways for the characters to touch each other and demonstrate their feelings.
I'm not grossed out by descriptions of anal, necessarily, but I find other types of sex-scenes to be more interesting, much sexier, and less clichéd, plus it avoids all the baggage about roles and status that the OP mentioned, which is a major plus to me.
Plus, it's my understanding that not all gay men have anal sex, anyway, and there's maybe even a significant percentage who don't.
Anal sex scenes in fanfic have become very formulaic, like everyone's following the same template.
Another thing to think about: a lot of slashfics are about two male characters who previously considered themselves straight, and may still feel uncertain, nervous, and ambivalent about their attraction to each other. I don't think guys like that are going to have anal as their very first encounter. I think they'd be more likely to try something simpler and less intimidating.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 05:24 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, I think other types of sexual contact, besides anal, are just downright sexy and enjoyable to read about, too.
