(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 02:16 am (UTC)(link)Even the concept of soulmate is annoying to me, it's a cheap cop-out in fiction (which as amny things, can be pulled off with enough suspension of disbelief) and an fallacy in real life at worst, a cute moniker for a relationship that stood the pass of time at best.
Now try to justify grooming a baby to be your lover with the concept of soulmates and I'm flinging all my shit on you.

(Maybe the author became fond of the werewolf as she was writing him and, rather than leaving him completely rejected, wanted him to have someone in the end? Someone who is an offshoot of the main character so it's almost like he got the girl he wanted? Guh! That's a creepy idea to me!)

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 10:21 am (UTC)(link)And I even thing that Jacob/Renesme could have worked. Why not just tag that on the epilogue? Have Jacob "go away" for a couple of years, and then upon his return meet Renesmee (all grown up)? Meyer could have even written a cute story with Jacob meeting her not realizing who she was at first.

1.) Work on the writer's part and
2.) The writer allowing some other character to be the center of attention for at least a chapter.
And some writers just aren't willing to allow that second thing.
