You mean wanting someone who likes me as I am, understands what I've gone through, leaves me the hell alone when I tell him to, and loves me regardless of the awful things he's seen me do/knows I've done?

I really can't express how horrible it was doing the things I did. I just don't want to be alone anymore, but I don't want to be judged either. Peeta doesn't judge, not once. He just loves Katniss, and understands what she went through.

Katniss is thankfully not all "woe is me" all the time. You need to stop identifying with her and wanting what she has and working on yourself.

It's not "woe is me". It's a genuine sadness over being asked to do terrible things, and having to do them to survive. It's not frivolous whining, and screw you for trivializing it so.

Are you aware of the fact that the military actively and enthusiastically recruits teenagers from poor communities of color who don't have any other way to leave their neighborhood/get a college education? Seriously, get some nuance in your analysis. You're the kind of person who makes the left look bad.

Hell, people in general, not just teenagers from poor communities of color, join for the educational/getting the fuck out of Dodge benefits. It's becoming untenable in this country to pay for an education without debt-bonding yourself for the next fifty years without some kind of supplementary aid. It's impossible to get federal loans or scholarships if your parents hit above a certain income bracket whether or not they actually intend to help a kid pay for college because it's just assumed that they will.
