How Do I Tumblr Savior

(Anonymous) 2013-11-30 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Anyone have a strictly-for-the-very-stupid tutorial on how to use tumblr savior? I installed it on greasemonkey, am pretty sure I typed the codes right and excluded certain tags or whatever, my dash is still being spammed about a fandom I don't give a shit about. (The person spamming is kind enough to tag, so this shouldn't be happening to me!!!)

Can you give me a screenshot of what it looks like? This is mine as a comparison.

Holy crap my tumblr savior looks NOTHING like that! It's literally all code!

One second, running off to find these "lists"

Are you using Greasemonkey, or something? Can you give us a screenshot of yours?

Okay, to me you're clearly accessing it from tumblr and not the add-on page. How do I do that?

That's actually what it looks like when you access it from the App bar in Google Chrome. If you're using Chrome, go up to the right corner next to the address bar and look for something that looks like the letter T on a post it note. That's Tumblr savior.

I could never get tumblr savior to work. I followed all the tutorials to the letter and it just never worked. I use XKit now. Much easier and works like a charm.

Yeah, it has never worked for me either.

Greasemonkey kept stuffing up to me. Have you tried Tumblr savior for firefox? A little 't' appears in the bottom right of the screen. For weeks I thought the installation hadn't worked...

(or chrome)

I use this with Greasemonkey: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/142523
The original TS script stopped working for me a while ago anyway, and this has other aspects that I like: the differentiation between black and grey lists for blocked posts, and to input blocked words/tags/phrases you don't have to edit the script itself, you just add them through the "user script commands" in the Greasemonkey submenu.

Step by step:
- install the script
- go on your dash (you have to be on tumblr to be able to access the script commands)
- open the Greasemonkey submenu (click on the little arrow next to the GM icon)
- "User script commands" -> "Edit black/grey/white list" (black: blocks post completely, you won't even know it exists; grey: blocks the content of the post, and instead you get something like "this post has been blocked because of [tag/word]. If you can't resist temptation click here to display the post." and if you click there the post will be displayed; white: posts containing the word/tag/phrase will always be displayed, even if it also contains a blocked word)
- add the words/tags/phrases you want, separated by semicolons (don't leave spaces before or after the semicolon; you can have spaces within a blocked tag/phrase though) for example: #tag a;#tag b;word x;phrase z;etc.
- click ok
The page will refresh and the posts containing the words/tags/phrases added to your lists will be blocked.
I hope this helps!

The Greasemonkey script version is way out of date, and always was a little buggy. Google Tumblr Savior for Firefox and install the add-on version.

All versions of Tumblr Savior fail at least part of the time. The GM version is the worst but they're all pretty bad for the last two years or so. Get XKit and use the blacklist function on that because it actually works.

seconding getting Xkit and using it's blacklist function over Tumblrsavior. TS stopped working for me after one of the site's updates and it never worked again.
