Re: crushing on a younger guy?
(Anonymous) 2013-12-01 01:01 am (UTC)(link)LOL
Nice to know... I've always felt like a big age gap is totally normal when the girl is the young one, but for some reason I still feel awkward if it's the opposite. And I do mean that my first reaction would be, 'oh, how peculiar', even if - after that first impression - then I don't really give a damn, honestly.
There's not even a good reason why I should feel like it's different...
And btw, THANK you so much for replying. Meant a lot to me, I was seriously distracted/distressed tonight.
Re: crushing on a younger guy?
Also if this helps at all most of the college aged guys I know are really interested in dating older women but are usually too intimidated to hit on them -- mostly because older women see right through their underdeveloped bullshit. One of my guy friends recently started dating a woman eleven years older than him and his peers are pretty dang jealous and curious. Another guy I know likes to brag that he dated a nineteen year old girl when he was sixteen. A guy who gets an older girl to give him the time of day is considered to have some serious game. Ironically him gaining the attention of a "real adult" woman upped his status with our fellow college girls too.
There's also a woman who shops where I work who has had a string of much younger than in your case boyfriends. The only attitude I've heard expressed towards that is admiration and slight jealousy.
Not that I'd say any of this counts for a 3-4 year age difference but the dynamic overall is changing so you have even fewer judgements to worry about.
Re: crushing on a younger guy?
(Anonymous) 2013-12-01 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)Ahah, omg. Yes, I might think it could even come to that, I guess. :D
And btw, I'm not even searching for anything serious here, I just thought that maybe I should get him off my head by acting on it and seeing if he's really what he looks like.
Oh god, about the underdeveloped bullshit, that's so right. :D In fact I had a 24 years old guy show interest, and he's extremely pretty (to the point that I would have thought him to be way out of my league at his age) but he's kind of immature. Very intelligent, but immature. So yeah, I swiftly changed gears with him not to encourage him.
This one hits all my buttons though, what the hell. Maybe when I do start knowing him better I'll find out I don't even like him, 'cause I can't tell much from what I've seen... But yeah, I need to hit on that. :P
THANK YOU for your advice! <3 I suppose I could try starting a conversation on fb, so maybe I can see if I'll find something to talk about... he's WAY closed off. I'm not good at making the first steps. :D
