Ding ding ding, we have a winner!

So what if it's a shit ending? It's one I would like better than the epilogue, which was the only point of the exercise. And if we're being honest, the last books in both those series were not great, so of course it's going to be shit. If I were actually going to write a good epilogue for either of those I'd have to rewrite the entire book to set it up better, and as we have established, I am a lazy shitstain.

"I would like better than the epilogue"

and that is the problem with your original argument and claim that it shouldn't have been written. You're talking about your preferences what you would prefer.

I don't know if anyone's told you this but IT'S NOT AL ABOUT YOU. A writer is going to write a completion they like to their own story, and at the end of the day the story is their's. You are not entitled to have a writer cater to your whims.

The fact that you're declaring that it "shouldn't have been written" tells me you're not also lazy but entitled.

LOL. What are you going to do, feed the epilogue through a magical objective writing quality assessment to see whether my feelings are valid? There's plenty of other stuff I feel was badly done and would have preferred JKR had left out, and I can't think of a single person who hasn't read a long series and had any moments of "man, I wish that hadn't gone in." It's not "entitled" to wish a book had content you liked better unless you're actually getting mad at the author and sending her angry letters demanding to change what she writes.

Instead, what I'm doing is... giving my anonymous opinion on FS. Oh my, how shockingly rude! I'm sure JKR is just crushed to hear that not everybody likes every part of her work, and will respond to my suggestion posthaste.
