Thanks, I'm a bit sick of vampires (tried to write a vampire novel once, it was terrible), but hopefully I'll get over it at one point ;)

If not her vampire books, you might enjoy Hambly's Benjamin January mysteries, depending on whether you'd be interested in a series that starts in 1833 (i.e., 4 years before the Victorian era begins) in the United States--specifically, in New Orleans. (Madame Lalaurie makes an appearance in Book II, btw.)
