Like most Sherlock fans know or care a jot about the canon.

Canon still serves as the jumping-off point for a lot of inspiration for fic, theories about upcoming seasons, and headcanons about the characters, regardless of how faithful the conclusions are.

There actually are a surprising number of people (myself included) who have now read the original canon because of the modern adaptations.

After reading it, though, I don't know how I feel about some of the changes that were made to some of the stories. But I am loving the greater inclusion of Mycroft. Give me all of the Mycroft all of the time.

Mycroft is truly awesome and I so wish he had appeared in more stories. *sadface*

However, I don't really like that he and Sherlock often seem to hate each other in adaptations. Not sure what that's all about.

Yeah, I mean there was some animosity but I don't think they hated each other. Sherlock even admits that Mycroft is smarter than him.

It may have something to do with the fact that Mycroft is almost always presented in conjunction with Lestrade? (I'd love to see more of that dynamic in the show, and I think they're actually addressing it next season--yay!) Because Sherlock looks down on Lestrade and maybe resents that he works so closely with his brother?

They don't in Granada.
