But, uh, it sorta did? It wasn't a big thing or anything but there were some loudmouth people who insisted on calling them freedom fries for a whole hot sixty seconds where I live. But overall it wasn't like a representative deal or anything.

IDK it was a thing in some pockets but it didn't catch on so I'm not sure if I'm agreeing or disagreeing...

That was such a small group of people though, do they even deserve acknowledgement? Think the people who bring it up for ironic purposes are perpetuating it far more than the handful of sincere people did. When we look back people are totally gonna think it was A Thing even though it baaaarely was. Because why would you make fun of something that NEVER HAPPENED RIGHT.*

For the record, where I am it was not a thing that existed at all.

I mostly agree with this but I also can't forget that a local diner actually changed all their menus thinking this was a permanent change to the American landscape so... I concede you are technically correct! (The best kind)

Restaurants in my area actually changed the names on the menus. I kid you not, my school changed the name of fries. It was a larger group than you might thing, depending on the area. It lasted for about a year before everyone stopped trying to make Freedom Fries happen.
