I'm so easy for those kinds of stories. I hereby adopt your headcanon, OP!

Aw, an Uptown Girls secret. There's not enough love for this movie. I like your headcanon, too, OP.

Of course this happens after the movie. I refuse to accept otherwise.

This was the last movie I saw at the cinema with my Mom before she passed away.

We had a girls day out and went shopping, ate at our favorite cafe, and went to a chick flick. It was just before she started chemo, so it's one of the last good memories I have of her.

Idk how I'd feel watching it now. I'd probably cry really ugly tears for a few hours. I loved Brittany Murphy, too.

Secret 1 - Uptown Girls (film)

[Picture is Molly Gunn, as portrayed by Brittany Murphy, and Rae Schleine, as portrayed by Dakota Fanning, from the movie "Uptown Girls". Molly is a young woman with light skin and long blond hair pulled up in a fancy bun and wearing fashionable casual clothing, while Rae is a child with light skin, blond hair pulled back, and she is wearing casual clothing and sunglasses. They are sitting back to back inside a bus? Or a train, maybe? They are looking at the camera.]

I know this is not a Big Fandom movie, but I kind of really love it. After Murphy died, it made it hard to watch. But I watched it again and remembered how hopeful the ending made me.

I like to think that Rae treated Molly like a surrogate aunt after the ending. Like, when she is trying to transition from child-to-teenager fashionably, she would go see Molly. When a new stupid movie came out, they had Molly-Rae nights where they went and saw it and got diner food after. Because Rae really needed someone like that. I was a lot like Rae as a child, and I had someone like that.

That's why it bothered me when Murphy passed away, I realized, I'm terrified of my Molly leaving.

Secret Because: It's a stupid movie, anon. Stop projecting.
