ATTN Secret Maker Who Buys Relief Fan Works For Self As A Way To Get Presents!

[personal profile] crunchysunrises 2013-12-02 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
So there was a secret maker awhile back who admitted that s/he bought gifts from various fandom relief efforts (ex. helping Haiti or the Philippines) because that was the only time that s/he'd get presents but it made her/him feel bad.

Anyway, if you're that person (or you just like fandom exchanges) I thought that fandom_stocking might be up your alley. It's a gifting thing where you get a "stocking" and strangers who can do/give whatever you asked for fill your requests (ex. fanfic, fanart, vegetarian recipes). And apparently no one ever goes away empty-handed. (I, uh, haven't done it personally but it looks fun!)

So, if you see this, I hope you'll pop over and at least look it over.

I'm not that secret maker, but this looks interesting! Thanks for posting it.

That looks really cool! Is it open for anyone to peruse and drop things in other peoples' stockings too? I'd love to spend some time doing that once I'm done with hell finals.

I think so. Judging by the community profile and guidelines, it's based off of yuletide's treats.

I think they'll make individual (but screened) "stocking" posts for each person who signed up and then people make stuff and post them in the appropriate "stockings". No one is assigned to anyone else, so they'll probably be happy to have another person making and giving stuff.

(I'm totally going to try to do a few stocking fillers this year too! I tried to glance over the sign ups post but I hated having to maximize the html boxes one by one. I understand that it makes it easier for the mods when they're making the stockings but it makes me want to wait.)

As in, there's a post for each person, and on each post there are screened comments but anyone can comment? That sounds like a good way to do it.

Thanks for the info! :)
