When I was a kid we did a thing in school where you had to write compliments about everyone in class. All the compliments I got were variations on "you wear glasses" and "you can read fast," which aren't really compliments at all.

Reading fast is cool and useful, so I think that was a real compliment. And some people think glasses are neat, too! But yeah, that kind of does fall in to "water is wet" territory. :/

I used to get 'you can read fast' when we did that at school as well. I was never quite sure how to respond to it, thank you for pointing out a fact? Idk.

idk the last sounds like it was something people admired.

but really as a kid this practice, while noble, is bound to create awkwardness and sad feelings.
