I'm not quite sure I understand where you're coming from? Because it seems to me that being super defensive about stuff like Team Unicorn comes from a place of saying that our common enemy is "I fuked ur mom tits or gtf0" culture and that it's dumb to argue over who's more legitimate of a gamer. Those come from the same place (but it kind of seemed like you were saying that F!S is being overdefensive and that's bad). Sorry if I'm misreading you here.

I do agree with what you're saying here. tbh I'm kind of skeptical about the whole existence of a "gamer culture" and whether that's even a meaningful identity. But to the extent that it is one, yeah, I definitely agree w you.
