I seem to remember the Divine Mr. Barrowman himself telling a somewhat similar story, but I can't for the life of me remember when. Early Torchwood timeframe, maybe in an interview, maybe an excerpt from one of his books... maybe just my weird imagination. But yeah. You may well not be the only one thinking that.
