Uh, Jean is still angry and jealous in the manga too if you've read the most recent chapter he's just like he was in training days. The only thing the anime did to him different was make him obsess over Marco way more than he ever did in the manga.

Although I agree that Levi was pushed in where he was NOT supposed to be there at all just to make him look cool or something.

How so? I personally think his character has grown a lot, and is turning into the 'leader' that Marco saw in him.
It's true that Jean is still pretty jealous of Eren over his relationship with Mikasa, but they really played it up in the anime. For example, the scene in the last episode, where Jean is fuming in his jealousy over Mikasa's concern over Eren, after they captured Annie - that didn't happen in the manga. In the manga, he was only supportive of EMA during the time that Eren was recovering.
And even though he's arrogant, and easily irritated, and what not, he's not 'angry'. He's the type to think with caution before he acts. (Actually one of the few times he's acted impulsively was rescuing Mikasa from the titan)
