When I was on a trip to Bali when I was 13, lots of the men there complimented how beautiful I was ... right after asking my father if I was HIS WIFE.

Yeah. One reason of many that I don't want to go back there.

Blergh, I've gotten that question before from an older former colleague of my dad, during a regional buffet dinner for professionals in their field (I was 21-22 but usually mistaken for younger). When I said no, his daughter, and pointed out my mom in line, he started talking about how there was nothing more beautiful than a [ethnic group my family is] woman, stopping only when his [close-in-age to him, not ethnic group my family is] wife came back with food and interrupted him. We were assigned the same table as them, but man, did I sneak to the bar when I could.
