I know not all step-parents are like this, but it's been scientifically proven time and time again that people are significantly more likely to abuse, murder and neglect a step-child than their biological child.

Please tell me you're not being serious. Not all step-parents are terrible. My (step) dad is one of the greatest things to ever happen to my family. Sure in the beginning it was rough but ultimately he is the man that raised and loved my brothers and me. I'm so damn grateful he's in my life, especially considering my bio-dad couldn't be bothered to sober up and be a parent.
