I did not realize there was philosophy to parkour. Color me curious.

There are actually several philosophies for parkour. The one I prefer focuses on seeing the potential in your surroundings and knowing how to use them to maximize efficiency. It's artistry in an economy of movement.

But pretty much everyone I've met who actually tries to live in the headspace of parkour is kind of disgusted by the showboating of "Watch me flip down these two steps! Look at my series of complex jumps and rolls that I'm going to make down this perfectly straight and level sidewalk! Look at mee!!!!"
