Rose is a fantastic character. Don't feel bad for liking her. I mean, it's not Rose's fault that some fans are stupid and hate Martha because they can't get over Rose.

Anyway, Rose is my favorite, beating Martha by a small margin because I love Martha to death too and I think Martha is vastly underappreciated and underrated and widely misunderstood.

to each his own! I do think that since you saw Martha first it makes you more objective, since a lot of the 'underappreciation' for her results from people being bitter about Rose leaving. ^^

A couple of years ago I watched one season of Doctor Who with my family. Specifically the season with the Tenth Doctor and Martha. After this season the TV channel changed its programming and I never had the time to watch it again. Recently I decided to give it another go and just watch the episodes online. I started with the Ninth Doctor and I figured I'd work my way up to where we are now. I didn't expect to like Rose because I loved Martha so much but... I actually prefer her over Martha and I can't even explain why. It makes me feel like such a bad fan, especially with how underappreciated Martha is, and how much hate Roes get for being so overrated.

I'm so sorry, Doctor Who fandom!

You like who you like, and that's okay. I liked Rose just fine during the first two seasons of the show (especially with Nine); it was just the continuing specter of her hanging over the rest of RTD's run that kind of soured me on her a bit. Doesn't mean I think she was a bad character while she was around.

Why are women IRL, and women characters set off against one another as a competition where one has to win?* Fans are doing it, and you're buying into it. You like who you like, and you like both, and Rose gives you even more pleasure watching. No big deal, don't worry about it.
