I feel ya, but I think it was mostly a convenience thing. Plot-wise it was easier to have them (and all of their friends, which isn't very realistic either but eh) in the same school and, lbr, Cory wasn't about to get into Yale...

In real life though, I would definitely think it would be a terrible decision. My cousin is going to school in colorado solely because he boyfriend goes there (we live in Texas) and I cringed whenever she told me. I mean, if they break up then she's stuck there until at least the end of the semester

Yeah, plotwise it made sense, but even then they could've just had Topanga end up being rejected, which would've also been interesting for her story arc.

yeah but by that point, Topanga had no flaws so of course no one would reject her.

considering how hard they pushed the "topanga is the perfect student who has literally never received anything less than an A and overachieves in all other areas" angle, I think the only way I would have believed that is if she had a truly disastrous interview with Yale (kind of like in Fresh Prince where Carlton fucked up his Princeton interview). that would have been interesting though, I agree
